Well i decided to open this blog to share my climbing life with other people, i thought it would also be quite a good way to keep track of what I'm doing with my climbing - which has rapidly become a massive part of my life.
I started climbing at the beginning of this year and since i've become totally obsessed, and have climbed as much as possible. I have improved pretty quick but since i got to the 7a boulder grade i've had to start working pretty hard to keep improving.
I had been purely bouldering from when i started till a few weeks ago when i started doing some power endurance and started trying routes. i am as hooked on this as bouldering now. so i had a couple weeks in the peak district to try and get on some cool routes and managed to get a bunch of easy routes done and redpointed my first 7b+ which i was cool. Then managed to dog my way up an 8a called 'the free monster' but didn't get a chance to go for a redpoint attempt that trip, so pretty psyched to try and get back and do it!
So since then i've been doing some training to improve my endurance which is pretty pathetic at the moment. But have still tried to keep up with the bouldering by having the odd day out at the local crags. i had an epic weekend at kyloe in the woods in northumberland where i got utterly beaten by a 7a+ called 'hitchhikers guide to the galaxy' but did manage to get a couple 7a's done at bowden doors (the mantle shelf, transformer direct, and dog eat dog)
Now its pretty solid training for the outside in event at newcastle climbing centre! psyched!
